They built Legacy Moving because they'd seen too many specialty items damaged by crews that weren't prepared for them.
Specialty items are those that are too heavy, too fragile, or too awkward for a standard two-person crew with a furniture dolly. That includes:

Piano Movers Winnipeg
Upright pianos typically weigh 300 to 500 lbs. Baby grands and full grands can exceed 1,200 lbs. We use proper piano dollies, strap systems, and ramp equipment. We photograph before any disassembly so reassembly is accurate. After the move, we recommend scheduling a tuning (we don't tune, but the instrument needs it after transport).
Hot Tub Movers Winnipeg
A filled hot tub is not something you move. A drained one is still 500 to 1,000 lbs of fibreglass, insulation, and cabinetry. Moving one down a set of stairs or through a narrow gate takes planning, muscle, and the right rigging. We assess access before the move and bring what's needed.
Pool Table Movers Winnipeg
Pool tables have slate beds that weigh 450 lbs or more and must be moved in sections to avoid cracking. We disassemble, transport each slate section safely, and re-level at the destination. A pool table that isn't level after a move is unusable. We get it right.

Specialty moves fail when someone shows up with a standard furniture dolly and improvises. We don't improvise.
Before any specialty move, we walk the site. We check the item's current location: is it in a basement? Behind a narrow doorway? At the top of a tight staircase? Winnipeg's older bungalows from the 1940s and 1950s often have narrow doorframes. Postwar homes in River Heights, St. James, and Transcona weren't built with 400-lb hot tubs in mind. We find that out before move day, not during it.

For items that need disassembly (pool table slate, hot tub panels, piano legs), we photograph before we take anything apart. Reassembly follows the photos, not guesswork.

A lot of homeowners assume they need to hire two companies: one for the regular move, one for the piano or hot tub. You don't. Not with us.
Two-company moves create real problems:

A few things worth knowing before you call.
Book ahead for large items
Specialty moves often need more lead time than a standard local move, especially for grand pianos and large hot tubs. The earlier you call, the easier it is to schedule the right crew and equipment. That said, we do our best to accommodate urgent timelines, so call and ask.
Access matters more than you'd think
If you're in a condo or apartment building in Osborne Village, downtown Winnipeg, or newer developments like Sage Creek or Bridgwater, you'll need to book elevator access and check whether the building has any restrictions on moving large items. Do that before we arrive. We'll remind you when we quote.
Winter moves are fine, with a little planning
We move specialty items year-round in Winnipeg. In cold months, piano tuning post-move is especially important since temperature swings affect pitch. Hot tub covers can freeze to the tub in extreme cold, and we factor that into how we approach the job.
Basement rec rooms are routine for us
Half the pool tables and hot tubs we move in Winnipeg are in basement rec rooms in St. James, Transcona, Charleswood, and River Heights. Narrow stairs, low ceilings, tight corners. We've done it enough that it's routine, even when it doesn't look that way.

Yes. We handle long-distance moves across Canada, and specialty items can travel with the rest of your belongings. Routes we service include Winnipeg to Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, and other major Canadian cities.
