Moving from Winnipeg to Regina is a 570 km interprovincial move, and that changes how it needs to be handled. This isn't a local move. You're crossing from Manitoba into Saskatchewan, which means your mover needs to be licensed for long-distance, cross-province work. We are.

  • Distance: 570 km via Trans-Canada Highway 1 through Brandon
  • Typical transit: 1–2 days (load Winnipeg, drive, deliver Regina)
  • Delivery window confirmed before we leave your driveway
  • Licensed for Manitoba–Saskatchewan interprovincial moves
  • BBB A rating · 5★ on Google from 169+ reviews

One thing people don't always expect: Saskatchewan doesn't observe Daylight Saving Time. Once you're in Regina, clocks stay on Central Standard Time year-round, which means for part of the year, Regina is one hour behind Winnipeg. Worth knowing before your first week of calls back home.

Call us at (204) 296-2223 for a free on-site estimate, we come to you, no online guesswork required.

Every move we do on this route includes the following:

  • Loading at your Winnipeg address and unloading at your Regina destination
  • Furniture wrapping with moving blankets and shrink wrap
  • Disassembly and reassembly of beds, shelving, and furniture that needs to come apart to move safely
  • Clear communication on your delivery window before we depart

We also offer these as optional add-ons:

  • Packing and unpacking — full home or just the fragile items
  • Moving supplies — boxes, tape, bubble wrap available for purchase
  • Climate-controlled storage — if your Winnipeg move-out and Regina move-in dates don't line up, we have secure storage available

If you're moving something that needs special handling — a piano, hot tub, gun safe, pool table, or aquarium — let us know when you book. These require the right equipment and a crew that knows how to move them. We handle all of them, but advance notice matters.

No hidden fees. What we quote is what you pay. Get your free estimate at (204) 296-2223.

Most long-distance moving companies send you an online form and a ballpark number. We don't do that. Before we quote this move, we come to your Winnipeg home and see exactly what you're moving. That lets us give you an accurate price — not a range that doubles on moving day.

The process from here:

  • On-site estimate: One of our team members visits your Winnipeg home, walks through what's moving, and gives you a transparent, itemized quote.
  • Custom moving plan: We confirm your dates, note any specialty items, and sort out whether you need packing, storage, or anything else before the truck rolls.
  • Moving day in Winnipeg: Our crew arrives, wraps every item properly, and loads the truck. We pick up from anywhere in Winnipeg — St. James, Transcona, St. Vital, St. Boniface, River Heights, Charleswood, wherever you are.
  • Transit to Regina: We drive Trans-Canada Highway 1 across the prairies. You'll know your delivery window before we leave.
  • Delivery and setup in Regina: We unload, reassemble furniture, and place items where you want them. You're not left with a pile of boxes and a disassembled bed frame.

Three founders with over 50 combined years in the moving industry built this company. That experience shows in how we run a move. If you're looking for reliable interprovincial movers for the Winnipeg to Regina route, call (204) 296-2223.

If you haven't spent much time in Regina, here's an honest picture of what you're moving to.

Regina is Saskatchewan's capital, with a population of over 250,000. It's noticeably smaller than Winnipeg, which most people consider a feature: shorter commutes, easier parking, and housing that's genuinely affordable by any Canadian standard. The city averages more sunny days than most Canadian cities — more than Calgary, more than Toronto.

Neighbourhoods worth knowing:

  • Harbour Landing — Southwest end, newer development, family-friendly, close to the ring road
  • Cathedral Village — Urban core, walkable, strong local business scene, creative community
  • The Crescents and Lakeview — Established central neighbourhoods, tree-lined streets, older character homes
  • Greens on Gardiner — Newer northeast growth, suburban, young families
  • East Regina — Affordable, growing, good access to industrial employment
  • White City and Emerald Park — Just outside city limits, about 10 minutes from downtown, quieter and newer

The main employers are government, agriculture, insurance, and energy. The University of Regina and Saskatchewan Polytechnic are both there if education is part of your move. Wascana Park, one of the largest urban parks in North America, is right in the city. Mosaic Stadium hosts the Saskatchewan Roughriders, who are, as you'll quickly find out, a very serious matter.

Regina is a city that's easy to settle into. We'll get you there.

We handle the truck. You handle the paperwork. Here's what needs to happen once you're in Regina:

Within 90 days of arriving:

  • Driver's licence: Exchange your Manitoba licence for a Saskatchewan one at any SGI (Saskatchewan Government Insurance) registry. You'll need your Manitoba licence plus two documents showing your new Saskatchewan address.
  • Vehicle registration: Transfer your vehicle registration at the same SGI registry. sgi.sk.ca has the full list of what to bring.

Apply immediately on arrival:

  • Saskatchewan Health Card: Apply through eHealth Saskatchewan as soon as you arrive. There is a waiting period — coverage typically begins on the first day of the third month after you arrive. If you arrive in September, your Saskatchewan coverage starts December 1. Keep your Manitoba Health card active during this gap.

Set up utilities in Regina:

  • SaskPower — electricity
  • SaskEnergy — natural gas
  • City of Regina — water and waste
  • SaskTel or Access Communications — internet and TV

Cancel or update in Manitoba:

  • Manitoba Hydro, Manitoba Health, water billing
  • CRA address update, Canada Post mail forwarding
  • Bank accounts, credit cards, employer or pension records, insurance policies

The health card waiting period catches a lot of people off guard. Get that application in early.

We move people on this route year-round, so every season works. That said, they're not all the same.

  • Spring (April–May): Roads are clear, weather is manageable, and demand hasn't hit its summer peak yet. This is a solid window.
  • Fall (September–October): Another good choice. Temperatures are cooler, moving season is winding down, and the Trans-Canada is in good shape.
  • Summer (June–August): The busiest time of year. We're booked up faster in summer. If you're planning a summer move, contact us at least three to four weeks out to secure your date.
  • Winter (November–March): Available, and some people prefer it — there's more flexibility in scheduling, and demand is lower. Highway 1 through Headingley and the Brandon stretch can get icy and windy in January and February. We know this route in winter. We plan around it.

Regardless of season: give us at least two weeks' notice for a long-distance move from Winnipeg to Saskatchewan. Summer and early fall, longer is better. Call (204) 296-2223 and we'll tell you what availability looks like for your dates.

Frequently Asked Questions

A typical Winnipeg to Regina move takes two days: loading day at your Winnipeg home, and delivery day in Regina. The drive is about 570 km along Trans-Canada Highway 1, roughly five to six hours of driving time. We confirm your delivery window before we leave Winnipeg.
Yes. At 570 km, this is an interprovincial move from Manitoba to Saskatchewan. Long-distance rates apply, and you'll want a mover with the proper licensing and insurance for cross-province work. Legacy Moving is licensed for interprovincial moves across Canada.
No. We don't require a deposit to secure your moving date. You pay for the move once it's complete — no money upfront, no risk of losing a deposit if your plans change. Call (204) 296-2223 to check availability for your dates.
For most of the year, two weeks is enough lead time. In summer (June through August), three to four weeks is smarter — that's our busiest season and dates fill quickly. That said, if you need to move sooner, call us and we'll tell you honestly what we can do.
Yes. We move pianos, hot tubs, gun safes, pool tables, and aquariums on interprovincial moves, including the Winnipeg to Regina route. Specialty items need advance notice so we bring the right equipment and crew. Mention it when you book.
Apply for a Saskatchewan Health Card through eHealth Saskatchewan as soon as you arrive. There's a waiting period: coverage starts on the first day of the third month after you arrive. Keep your Manitoba Health card active until your Saskatchewan coverage kicks in. Don't wait to apply.
