A long-distance move from Winnipeg to Montreal involves a lot more than driving a truck across the country. Here's what we handle from start to finish:

Quebec's July 1 Moving Day
If your new Montreal lease starts July 1, be aware that leases across Quebec expire on the same day every year. Montreal essentially moves all at once on July 1, and moving companies book up weeks ahead. If your move-in date is flexible, arriving July 2 or 3 is often much smoother. If July 1 is fixed, book your movers early.
Summer vs. Off-Season Moves
Summer (May through September) is peak season for long-distance moves. You'll have more competition for dates, especially on weekends. Fall and winter moves are easier to book on short notice. Winnipeg winters are something our team knows well. We protect your belongings from temperature shock during loading and ensure everything is wrapped and sealed before it leaves.
Your Delivery Window
For a ~2,400 km move, transit typically takes 3 to 5 business days depending on load timing. We'll give you a delivery window upfront and narrow it to a specific date as we get closer. If your Montreal apartment has elevator booking requirements or specific move-in hours, let us know. We plan around that.
Long-distance moving costs are based on a few clear factors. There are no tricks. We'll walk you through everything during your free on-site quote.
- Volume and weight — the amount you're moving is the biggest driver of cost. A one-bedroom apartment moves very differently from a four-bedroom house.
- Additional services — full packing, partial packing, or no packing at all. Supplies, storage, specialty items.
- Time of year — summer is busier and may affect scheduling, though we keep pricing transparent regardless of season.
- Access at both ends — ground floor with easy parking is simpler than a Montreal walk-up on the Plateau with street restrictions. Tell us about both addresses and we factor that in.
- Specialty items — pianos, gun safes, hot tubs, and pool tables require extra care and equipment. We move all of these.

Our job doesn't end when the truck pulls up in Montreal. We unload, place furniture where you want it, and reassemble anything we disassembled in Winnipeg. If something needs to go upstairs or into a specific room, that's included.
Interprovincial Admin — What to Take Care of After Your Move
Moving from Manitoba to Quebec means a few administrative steps. These aren't our responsibility to manage, but knowing about them upfront makes the transition easier:
- Driver's licence — Quebec gives you 6 months to swap your Manitoba licence at a SAAQ service outlet. Bring your Manitoba licence, proof of identity, and proof of new Quebec address.
- Health card — Quebec's provincial health coverage (RAMQ) typically begins after a 3-month waiting period. Arrange private or travel health insurance to bridge the gap.
- CRA address — update your address with the Canada Revenue Agency online or by mail for accurate tax correspondence.
- Manitoba Health card — cancel your Manitoba Health registration once Quebec coverage is active.
